Bonghwa County hosts Vietnam-South Korea 800th anniversary exchange
Bonghwa County hosted a global exchange event to commemorate the 800th anniversary of Prince Ly Long Tuong’s settlement in Korea. The event, held at the Chunghyodang site, brought together approximately 800 participants, including Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Ho, local officials, and descendants of the Ly dynasty.
To mark the occasion, Bac Ninh City from Vietnam donated dragon decorations styled after the Ly dynasty to Bonghwa County. The ceremony also included the unveiling of a memorial stone donated by the Hwasan Lee clan. These symbolic gestures aim to strengthen cultural and tourism cooperation between the two nations.
The event aligns with the development of the ‘K-Vietnam Valley’ project, which was designated as a regional specialized development zone. Bonghwa County plans to transform the Changpyeong-ri area into a hub for historical, cultural, and residential tourism, serving as a bridge for the approximately 370,000 Vietnamese residents in South Korea.
