Bonghwa Matsutake Mushroom Festival celebrates 30th anniversary

The 30th Bonghwa Matsutake Mushroom Festival is scheduled to take place from October 15 to 18 in the Naeseongcheon area of Bonghwa-eup. Under the slogan ‘30 years of deep fragrance, coloring Bonghwa!’, this year’s event marks a shift toward a participatory gastronomy-focused festival.

To make the premium mushrooms more accessible, the festival will offer small portions of 100 to 200 grams and host ‘One Mushroom Time Auctions’ three times daily. Food offerings include ‘Naeseongcheon Matsutake Ramen’ meal kits, available for 5,000 KRW, and free tastings of Bonghwa Han-yak-u beef.

In addition to food, the festival features the ‘Bonghwa Treasure Market’ for local agricultural products and the ‘Cheongnyang Cultural Festival,’ which showcases traditional culture through activities like Samgye tug-of-war. The event will conclude with a drone light show and fireworks following various musical performances by artists such as Kim Na-young, Lil Boi, and Baek Ji-young.
