Bonghwa Songi National Marathon concludes successfully in South Korea

The 14th Bonghwa Songi National Marathon was successfully held on October 6th at the Bonghwa Public Stadium and surrounding areas in Bonghwa County, South Korea. The event, co-hosted by Maeil Shinmun and Bonghwa County, drew approximately 3,000 to 5,000 participants, including runners, families, and volunteers.

The competition featured three categories: half-marathon, 10km, and 5km. Notable winners included Park Hyun-jun in the men’s half-marathon and Jung Soon-yeon in the women’s half-marathon. Other winners included Kim Kyung-sam (10km men), Lee Seon-hwa (10km women), Choi Il-hyun (5km men), and Choi Seol-hwa (5km women).

Bonghwa County emphasized safety throughout the event, conducting joint inspections with relevant agencies prior to the race to manage traffic, emergency response systems, and facility safety. A joint situation room was operated on the day of the event to ensure real-time coordination. Local community groups also participated by providing food, such as 3,000 servings of banquet noodles and local agricultural products, to the participants.
