Kenya: Activist found after disappearance and progress in lawyer's murder probe

Kenyan activist Mulinge Muteti has been found in the Lukenya area after being reported missing following a demonstration in Nairobi. VOCAL Africa CEO Hussein Khalid reported that Muteti was discovered in a weak and disoriented state after being abandoned in the area in the early morning hours. He reportedly walked a long distance to a petrol station, where a member of the public assisted him in contacting his family. Muteti is currently receiving medical treatment at Sanel Hospital in Mlolongo.

In a separate criminal investigation, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has recovered a motorcycle allegedly used to transport a gunman during the murder of lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu on September 9, 2025. The recovery follows the interrogation of Nicholas Lemiso Naula, a boda boda rider who identified the vehicle used to ferry the suspect. The court has granted detectives 15 days to continue detaining four suspects linked to the killing as investigations proceed.
