Campo Grande police sweep and Bonito tourism drive highlight Brazil's local initiatives

The Guarda Civil Metropolitana launched Operation Saturation in Campo Grande on the night of 20 May, deploying 28 guards, 14 four‑wheel vehicles and four motorcycles. Over about 40 approaches, three outstanding arrest warrants were executed and three commercial establishments were inspected. The operation was scheduled to continue the following night.

In Rio Bonito, the municipal Maria da Penha Patrol celebrated its first year, reporting more than 500 assistance calls, 12 arrests for violation of protective orders and ongoing monitoring of 234 women.

Bonito also carried out an Operation Responsible Commerce, inspecting three night‑time venues, approaching 156 people and seizing four portions of marijuana (≈19 g) from one individual.

Municipal authorities in Poços de Caldas convened police, fire and urban‑inspection officials to coordinate future joint inspections, while the city’s water department reported loss rates of roughly 35 % of treated water.

In Pato Branco, a coordinated urban‑inspection action seized about 150 bottles of unregistered imported alcoholic beverages.

Canoas police recorded 17 DUI citations during a “Balada Segura” traffic operation, and Maringá’s police began the “Operação Omnis” to intensify visible policing and preventive patrols across the city.
