Bonito Cinesur Film Festival launches with opening ceremony
The Bonito Cinesur – Festival de Cinema Sul‑Americano opened on Friday, 24 June, at 19:30 in the Centro de Convenções de Bonito, Auditório Kadiwéu. Actor Reynaldo Gianecchini hosted the ceremony and introduced the opening film “Querido Trópico”. The festival runs free of charge through 1 August, offering competitive screenings, workshops, debates and other audiovisual activities that aim to strengthen South‑American cultural exchange.
A pre‑screening of the documentary “Honestino”, directed by Aurélio Michiles and starring Bruno Gagliasso, was presented at the event. The film recounts the life of student leader Honestino Guimarães, a disappeared political activist from Brazil’s military dictatorship, and is slated for nationwide theatrical release on 13 August. Organisers expect the festival to boost tourism and the local economy of Bonito, positioning the city as a cultural hub for the region.
