Bonito shooting: Suspects to surrender to police in Mato Grosso do Sul

A father and his 16-year-old son, who are suspects in a fatal shooting in Bonito, have promised to present themselves to the Civil Police in Aquidauana on Monday. The incident occurred on Saturday night following a dispute over public street parking.

According to investigators, the confrontation escalated from physical aggression to gunfire. The teenager reportedly retrieved a firearm from a pickup truck and opened fire to defend his father, who was being assaulted. The shooting resulted in the death of 35-year-old Ewerton Rodrigues da Silva, who succumbed to three gunshot wounds at Darcy João Bigaton Hospital. Another unidentified man was also shot and transferred to Campo Grande for treatment.

The Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso do Sul (TRE-MS) stated that the crime was not politically motivated, despite occurring following a motorcade for supporters of Flávio Bolsonaro. Police are currently investigating the origin and legality of the weapon used, as well as the potential responsibility of the father in the incident.
