Bochum apartment fire results in three deaths

A fatal fire in a multi-family residential building in the Hofstede district of Bochum, Germany, has claimed the lives of three adults. Emergency services were alerted to the blaze early in the morning, around 4:16 AM.

Firefighters successfully rescued five individuals from the building using various methods, including a turntable ladder, portable ladders, and a jump cushion. While these five people were treated for smoke inhalation, the three deceased victims were discovered lifeless in one of the apartments during subsequent firefighting efforts.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, which is currently suspected to be arson. Investigators noted that strollers left at the building's entrance appeared to have been set on fire, which may have ignited the wooden staircase and blocked escape routes. Authorities are also looking into whether the incident is connected to a reported altercation at the building the previous Sunday.
