Bonn-Vilich residential district design selected

A winning urban design has been selected for a new residential district in Bonn-Vilich. The project, a joint venture between the DORNIEDEN Gruppe and Yanmaz Immobilienbau, aims to transform a formerly commercial area into a residential neighborhood featuring approximately 175 apartments. Notably, 50 percent of these units are designated as publicly subsidized housing to accommodate various demographics, including students, families, and singles.

The development plan emphasizes sustainability and community integration. The design incorporates existing trees and features two central courtyards, Buchenhof and Zirbenhof. To promote a car-free environment within the district, parking will be consolidated in underground garages, while extensive bicycle storage will be provided. Climate adaptation measures include green roofs combined with photovoltaics, rainwater retention basins, and cisterns for irrigation.
