Bonnie Tyler funeral held in Wales as fans gather to honor singer

Thousands of fans gathered in Wales to bid farewell to legendary singer Bonnie Tyler during her funeral service at Swansea Minster on Monday, August 17. The emotional ceremony included a choral performance of her signature 1983 hit, ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’.

Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, passed away on July 8 at the age of 75 in Faro, Portugal, following complications from emergency intestinal surgery. Her manager, Matthew Davis, described her as ‘a star, but never a diva’, noting that she never forgot her Welsh roots.

Prior to the service, crowds lined the streets of her seaside village, Mumbles, as her coffin, draped in the Welsh flag, was transported through the community. The singer achieved global fame with hits such as ‘Holding Out for a Hero’ and ‘It’s a Heartache’, with ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ remaining her most celebrated work.
