Bono criticizes DOGE international aid cuts

U2 singer Bono has criticized the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for its role in dismantling the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Speaking in an interview with The New York Times, Bono described the cuts to international aid as “unconscionable” and raised concerns regarding the potential loss of life resulting from reduced funding.

Bono cited projections from The Lancet suggesting that drastic reductions in USAID funding could lead to significant fatalities, potentially impacting millions of children under the age of five by 2030. He further characterized the current political direction of the Republican Party as being “hijacked” by the Trump administration, calling the situation an “aggressive takeover.”
