Bonobo announces eighth studio album ‘Distance in Static’

British electronic artist Bonobo, also known as Simon Green, has announced his eighth studio album, titled ‘Distance in Static’. Scheduled for release on September 11, 2026, via the Ninja Tune label, the project arrives four years after his previous album, ‘Fragments’.

The album features a diverse range of international collaborators, including Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis, and Aanya Martin. The musical composition incorporates vocals in English, Urdu, and Japanese, alongside historical Iranian samples and recordings of the Chinese Guzheng.

Green recorded portions of the album in various global locations, including London, Tokyo, and Los Angeles, with a significant period spent at Neil Young’s Broken Arrow Ranch in California. The new work aims to bridge the gap between Green’s intimate downtempo roots and his more club-oriented DJ sets, a duality reflected in the lead single ‘Me And You’.
