Valencia region faces wildfires and severe storm damage
The Valencian Community is facing severe weather conditions, including intense wildfires and violent storms. In the province of Castellón, multiple fires have been reported, including a significant blaze between Segorbe and Gátova near the Sierra Calderona Natural Park, which has burned approximately 120 hectares. The fire, believed to have been caused by a lightning strike, has prompted a large-scale emergency response.
Other vegetation fires have been reported in Bonrepòs i Mirambell and various locations in Castellón, such as Tales and Alcúdia de Veo. Emergency services have activated special forest fire risk plans due to high temperatures and adverse conditions.
Simultaneously, the town of Alzira experienced a violent storm characterized by extreme wind gusts of up to 146 km/h and heavy rainfall. The storm caused significant damage to trees, industrial buildings, and the Santa Catalina parish church, though no casualties were reported.
