Book collectors face challenges with storage and safety regulations

Uminer’s collection, which occupied over 50 square meters and included books stacked on floors and furniture, led building administration to issue an eviction notice due to fire safety concerns regarding flammable material and blocked windows.

This situation reflects a broader tension between bibliophilia and modern living standards. While the publishing sector remains relatively healthy, domestic furniture design has shifted away from functional book storage, often prioritizing decorative items over shelf capacity. This has led to a trend where a minority of collectors must stack books horizontally or in unconventional spaces to accommodate their collections.
