Booking.com predicts emotion-driven travel trends for 2027
Booking.com has released its 11th annual travel predictions for 2027, indicating a significant shift toward emotion-driven and purpose-led travel. Research involving over 28,000 travelers suggests that consumers are increasingly selecting destinations based on how they want to feel rather than just location.
Key findings show that 81% of global travelers would choose a destination based on mood, and 77% are interested in trips that allow them to act out of character. In the UK, there is growing interest in paranormal tourism, with 68% of respondents interested in supernatural experiences. Additionally, travel is being used as a tool for relationship management, with 51% of UK respondents considering trips to resolve partner arguments.
Other notable trends include a desire for child-free travel among 66% of parents and a focus on wellness and restorative journeys. The report suggests that travel providers should adapt by offering more descriptive, emotion-focused content and flexible packaging to meet these evolving consumer intents.
