Bookmarkers initiative launched to promote literacy in Greece

Grigoris Dimitriadis has launched Bookmarkers, a new initiative aimed at promoting literacy and highlighting the value of books in daily life. The project was officially presented at the Bookloft bookstore in Athens.

The initiative seeks to increase the number of readers and foster a love for literature. Key objectives include organizing book donations to schools, municipal libraries, and prisons across Greece, as well as supporting small bookstores. Additionally, the group intends to support research related to books and provide financial assistance to new authors to help them continue their intellectual work.

During the presentation, speakers including journalist Thanasis Lalas, bookstore owner Michalis Karakostas, and writer Makis Tsitas discussed the role of books in modern society. Dimitriadis emphasized that reading is a transformative journey that shapes character and provides more than just knowledge and vocabulary.
