BookMyShow Live report highlights emotional and social impact of concerts in India
A new consumer report titled “OOO: Offline. Outdoors. Out Loud. – Live Season 25/26, Decoded” by BookMyShow Live reveals that live music is becoming a regular habit for 80 percent of concert-goers in India. Based on a survey of nearly 1,700 respondents across 75 cities, the study highlights a significant shift toward prioritizing experiences over material possessions.
Key findings indicate that 49 percent of Millennials attend concerts to “feel emotionally healed,” while 51 percent attend because they have followed an artist for years. Notably, only 4 percent of respondents cited fear of missing out (FOMO) as a primary motivator. The report also notes the social connectivity of live events, with 56 percent of attendees reporting connections made with strangers and 66 percent citing crowd singalongs as a peak emotional moment.
The economic impact of live music is also substantial. The report cites a Post Malone concert in Guwahati as an example, estimating an economic impact of approximately Rs 43 crore, driven by travel, accommodation, and local spending. The trend shows audiences traveling from over 200 cities and towns to attend major performances.
