Bootstrap Inc. implements MoQ protocol for VTuber fan meeting

Bootstrap Inc. has successfully implemented the next-generation media transfer protocol, MoQ (Media over QUIC), for a commercial VTuber fan meeting. The event, featuring VTuber Shion Gate, took place on September 1, 2026, at the KAIWAI Hatsudai event space in Tokyo.

Integrated into Bootstrap’s “AIAI” service for virtual talent event support, the MoQ protocol enables low-latency, bidirectional 4K video and audio streaming. This allows talent to transmit high-resolution visuals directly from their home studios to the venue, while receiving real-time audio and visual feedback from the audience.

This technology marks a significant shift from traditional methods, which required downloading 3D model data to venue computers for local rendering. By transmitting the video stream itself, talent can use their standard streaming tools, such as OBS Studio or VTube Studio, without specialized local setups. This approach also enhances security by ensuring sensitive 3D model data remains in the talent's possession rather than being transferred to third-party venues.
