Deolane Bezerra: Court maintains detention in PCC money laundering probe

The São Paulo Court has decided to maintain the preventive detention of lawyer and influencer Deolane Bezerra and five other defendants as part of Operação Vérnix. The investigation targets a suspected money laundering scheme linked to the criminal organization Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC).

According to the Public Ministry of São Paulo, the criminal structure is divided into decision-making, operational, and financial cores. Bezerra is accused of being a primary member of the financial core, allegedly responsible for concealing illicit resources through bank accounts and shell companies. Authorities noted the use of fractionalized deposits to move large sums of money.

While Bezerra remains in custody at the Tupi Paulista Female Penitentiary, the court has also ordered continued efforts to locate and capture Paloma Sanches Herbas Camacho and Leonardo Alexsander Ribeiro Herbas Camacho, who are currently fugitives. The defense has contested the decision, labeling the arrest as unnecessary, illegal, and disproportionate, maintaining that Bezerra is innocent and that her financial activities are derived from legitimate business and legal fees.
