Boquete hosts immersive art experience celebrating Panamanian coffee

The immersive art experience ‘El Ritual del Origen’ was held in Boquete, Panama, to honor the heritage and meticulous production process of Panamanian coffee. Held during the annual ‘La Cosecha’ event, the installation took place within the ‘beneficio’ (processing facility) of the long-standing coffee company Kotowa.

Local artists contributed to the sensory experience. Visual artist Momo Magallón created the work ‘Piel Extendida’, using her own body to paint coffee-drying beds hanging from the ceiling in circular shapes resembling coffee beans. The installation was complemented by ‘Buna’, an audiovisual performance by Diego Emilio Pitti, which integrated visual landscapes with sounds recorded directly from local coffee farms.
