Bordeaux International Arts Festival (FAB) begins September 26

The 11th edition of the Festival international des arts de Bordeaux métropole (FAB) is scheduled to take place from September 26 to October 10. The festival features a multidisciplinary program including theater, circus, dance, and visual arts, with 50% of the performers being international artists.

Key highlights include the aerial choreography ‘Maria en ballon’ at the Miroir d’eau and ‘The weight of water’ by the Dutch company Panama Pictures, which features dancers on a floating staircase discussing the climate crisis. Other works include ‘Re-Lighthouse’ by Palestinian artist Shareef Sarhan and Sylvain Gouraud’s photographic exhibition regarding agricultural landscapes.

Festival director Sylvie Violan noted that the event’s autumn timing helps avoid the extreme heatwaves that have impacted summer festivals. The programming focuses on themes of habitability and resilience, exploring the relationship between art and the evolving urban and ecological landscape of the Bordeaux region.
