Border Force seizes 300kg of ketamine at Essex port

UK Border Force officers have seized 300kg of ketamine at Harwich International Port over the past 12 months. This interception is part of a broader trend in drug seizures within the United Kingdom.

According to the Home Office, the UK recorded its largest quarterly haul of ketamine in 15 years between January and March 2026, with 1.3 tonnes of the class B drug seized nationwide during that period. Other significant interceptions during the same three-month window included 9,000kg of cocaine and more than 59,000 doses of nitrous oxide.

Jo White, the minister for migration and citizenship, commended the dedication and professionalism of Border Force officers in disrupting organized crime and preventing dangerous substances from entering the country.
