Border Guard Bangladesh protests BSF shooting near Thakurgaon

A Bangladeshi man, identified as 38-year-old Asadul Huq, died after being shot by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) near the Thakurgaon border. The incident occurred late Friday night near the Chakshibananda camp in India's North Dinajpur district, approximately 1.5 kilometers inside the Indian border from the Pirganj frontier.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) held an emergency flag meeting with the BSF to protest the shooting of unarmed individuals. While the BSF claimed the victims were smugglers attempting to cross the security fence, BGB officials have demanded an explanation for the use of force against the group. In addition to the fatality, two other Bangladeshis, Mostakin and Uday Chandra Roy, were detained by the BSF.

Local reports indicate that Huq was a resident of Idril village in Pirganj. BGB officials are currently verifying whether the detainees are in Indian police custody and are seeking the return of the deceased's body, which was sent for autopsy under Indian law.
