Bordj Badji Mokhtar airport to begin 24-hour operations in 2027

The Bordj Badji Mokhtar airport in southern Algeria is scheduled to begin 24-hour operations during the first half of 2027. This announcement was made by the National Air Navigation Establishment (ENNA) following a coordination meeting involving regional authorities and the ENNA Director General, Mounir Chermati.

The modernization project includes significant technical and safety investments, such as the implementation of ILS/DME systems and increased technical staffing. These upgrades aim to enhance flight safety and operational capacity in the border region.

The transition to continuous operations is expected to improve connectivity for the diaspora and facilitate international connections through night flight slots, potentially boosting the local economy and tourism in the far south of the country.
