Boreas launches quantum computing ETF QQCC targeting chip makers
Boreas has introduced the Boreas Solactive Quantum Computing UCITS ETF (ticker QQCC), which tracks the Solactive Developed Quantum Computing Index. The fund holds 25 companies, charges a 0.49% TER and was rebalanced on 8 May. Its portfolio gives investors exposure to leading quantum‑technology firms such as Google, IBM, D‑Wave, Rigetti and IonQ.
Quantum chips are the core component of quantum computers, housing qubits that operate at temperatures near absolute zero. Various technologies are being pursued, including superconducting circuits, trapped ions, photonic, silicon‑based and neutral‑atom approaches. Major tech groups – IBM, Google, Microsoft and others – are investing billions, and the global quantum‑chip market is projected to unlock up to $2 trillion in economic value by 2035, with $2 billion invested in startups in 2024 and $54 billion in government funding worldwide. Potential applications span drug discovery, advanced materials and high‑speed financial modelling.
