Santa Croce di Magliano car accident leaves toddler seriously injured
A two-and-a-half-year-old girl is in serious condition following a car accident in the center of Santa Croce di Magliano. The vehicle, driven by a 75-year-old man, reportedly lost control and mounted the sidewalk on Corso Umberto.
The impact struck a woman pushing a stroller, causing the child to suffer a severe head trauma. Debris from the collision also affected a nearby Carabinieri service vehicle. The child was initially treated at San Timoteo hospital in Termoli before being urgently transferred via helicopter to the Santo Spirito hospital in Pescara for specialized care.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the driver losing control, considering possibilities such as a sudden medical emergency or a technical vehicle failure. A breathalyzer test for the driver returned a negative result. The vehicle and the stroller have been seized as part of the ongoing investigation by the Carabinieri.
