Borgo Valbelluna faces controversy over delayed 2021 tax audits

A political controversy has erupted in Borgo Valbelluna regarding the management of 2021 IMU tax notifications. The local opposition group, “Costruiamo Borgo”, has criticized the Unione Montana Valbelluna for issuing notices regarding alleged payment irregularities from five years ago.

The opposition argues that the five-year delay makes it difficult for citizens to retrieve necessary documentation and receipts to regularize their positions. Furthermore, they reported that taxpayers attempting to resolve these issues encountered closed municipal offices, specifically noting that the taxpayer service desk was closed from August 10 to August 14 despite scheduled reception hours.

Opposition members have called for greater transparency and questioned whether similar audits will be conducted for subsequent years, expressing concern over a potential cycle of delayed tax notices.
