Boršice named Village of the Year 2026
Boršice, located in the Zlín Region, has been named the Village of the Year 2026. The competition, which saw a record 245 participating municipalities—the highest number since 2016—concluded with the announcement of results in Písečná.
Boršice secured first place due to its comprehensive care for residents, including high-quality conditions for families, seniors, and students. Key factors cited by the jury included the reconstruction of the primary and nursery school complex, effective cooperation with local farmers for school catering, and the development of public spaces like the St. Methodius Cycle Path. Mayor Petr Dula attributed the success to the collective effort and heart of the community.
Vraclav from the Pardubice Region took second place, while Všeruby from the Plzeň Region finished third. The competition aims to encourage rural development and highlight the importance of village life. The winner, Boršice, will proceed to compete for the European Village Renewal Award.
