Montenegro MP initiates hearing on consultancy and service contract spending
Boris Mugoša, a member of the European Alliance, has announced plans to initiate a parliamentary hearing to investigate the use of budget funds for consultancy services and service contracts in Montenegro. Mugoša alleges that these funds, totaling approximately 50 million euros for consultancy and 15.5 million euros for service contracts annually, are being misused in ways that violate legal regulations, often for roles that should be filled by permanent staff.
Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj has expressed support for the initiative, stating it is an excellent mechanism to provide transparency regarding how public money is spent across all government sectors. Dukaj noted that the hearing will allow for a comprehensive review of all types of contracts and employment methods used outside of standard procedures, emphasizing that all government actors will be subject to public scrutiny.
Separately, Luka Mugoša, acting director of the Traffic Administration, outlined infrastructure priorities including the reconstruction of the Berane-Rožaje road and the Lokve tunnel, as well as work on the Tivat-Jaz boulevard to alleviate traffic congestion.
