Boris Tadić denounces alleged sound‑cannon use in Serbian protests as fabricated

Former Serbian president and SDS leader Boris Tadić reacted to the Higher Public Prosecutor Office’s (VJT) announcement that it would interview individuals who claimed a sound cannon was used against protest participants. Tadić offered to be the first person questioned, but the VJT did not accept his offer.

He described the alleged investigation as a “staged process” reminiscent of Stalinist practices, accusing President Aleksandar Vučić of undermining Serbian society. Tadić said the claims of a sound‑cannon were a simulation and warned that the prosecutor’s office was threatening citizens and abusing its authority. He reiterated that he will continue to press charges against the prosecutors for what he called a fabricated case.

Tadić also criticized the broader handling of protests, linking the sound‑cannon narrative to other incidents such as the death of a restaurant patron and alleged police misconduct, and called for accountability from the government.
