Borja Iglesias to receive Medalla de Ouro de Santiago

The municipal corporation of Santiago de Compostela has decided to award footballer Borja Iglesias the Medalla de Ouro de Santiago. This institutional declaration follows an initiative by non-attached councilors who argued that a previous official reception held on September 14 was insufficient to honor the athlete.

Iglesias, a Celta de Vigo player and Spanish national team member, was recognized for his achievement as a world champion this past July. The city's decision highlights his professional career starting in Compostela as well as his social commitment and efforts to challenge gender roles.
