Borna Sosa joins 1. FC Köln as Monaco transfer deals collapse
The closing hours of the European transfer window saw significant movement and failed negotiations involving several major clubs.
In Germany, 1. FC Köln secured the signing of Croatian international Borna Sosa on loan from Crystal Palace. The 28-year-old defender, who has extensive Bundesliga experience from his time at VfB Stuttgart, joins Köln to provide depth and veteran leadership to their defensive line.
In France, AS Monaco experienced a chaotic series of events regarding the departures of Folarin Balogun and Lamine Camara. A potential transfer of Balogun to Everton collapsed after complications during his medical examination. Monaco had initially moved to cancel a deal for Camara to Chelsea in an attempt to finalize the Balogun sale, but the player ultimately remained with the club. Monaco's sporting director, Thiago Scuro, noted that the failed Balogun deal left the club in a difficult position regarding its financial objectives for the window.
