Borneo FC Prepares for 2026‑27 Season with New Coach and Brazilian Defender

Borneo FC of Samarinda began its pre‑season training on 21 July 2026 under newly appointed Argentine coach Mauro Jeronimo. Jeronimo praised the players' attitude, saying, "I’m very happy. The attitude and spirit of the players make me proud to be in Samarinda," and outlined a plan to build a clear playing identity and consistent performance.

The club also announced the signing of Brazilian centre‑back Iago Pereira Mendonca, a 26‑year‑old who stands 195 cm tall. Mendonca previously played for clubs in Brazil, Portugal and Malta, and featured in UEFA Conference League qualifiers with Floriana FC. He is expected to strengthen Borneo FC's defence and provide an aerial threat on set pieces.
