Borneo FC prepares for AFC Challenge League amid Samarinda forest fires

Borneo FC is proceeding with preparations for the 2026-2027 AFC Challenge League (ACGL) despite ongoing threats from forest and land fires (karhutla) in Samarinda. The club, known as Pesut Etam, will serve as the host for Group D matches, which are scheduled to take place at Stadion Segiri in East Kalimantan.

Borneo FC MOC Chairman Tomi Pratama Gultom stated that the team is working to meet all regulations and standards set by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). While Samarinda remains under emergency disaster status due to smoke and fire risks, the club is focused on both team readiness and ensuring the stadium is prepared for international competition.

Borneo FC is placed in Group D alongside Yangon United (Myanmar), Tainan City FC (Taiwan), and One Taguig FC (Philippines). The group stage schedule includes matches against Yangon United on October 18, 2026, Tainan City FC on October 21, 2026, and One Taguig FC on October 24, 2026.
