Borneo Kind and IKN Authority plant 1,000 trees in East Kalimantan

The Borneo Kind youth community and the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) conducted a reforestation initiative at the Bukit Soeharto Forest Park in East Kalimantan. On Saturday, October 31, 2026, approximately 400 to 500 volunteers participated in planting 1,000 endemic tree seedlings across two hectares of land previously affected by forest fires.

The planting effort focused on restoring vegetation in protected forest areas within the Nusantara Capital region. Species planted included Balangeran, Bangris, Tengkawang, Kapur, Gaharu, Nyamplung, Meranti, and Durian.

Basuki Hadimuljono, Head of the IKN Authority, emphasized that forest conservation must be a consistent lifestyle and highlighted the necessity of collaboration between government agencies and local communities to achieve the goal of a sustainable Forest City. Wawan Irawan, leader of Borneo Kind, stated that this initiative is the first phase of a long-term movement intended to restore the region's biodiversity and ecosystems.
