Region Østdanmark approves first budget to tackle healthcare inequality

Political parties in Region Østdanmark have signed the first budget agreement for the newly formed region. The budget aims to reduce healthcare inequalities across the region's geography, with a specific focus on strengthening services in southern and western areas.

Key allocations include 768 million DKK for the 2027 budget to boost healthcare in southern and western parts of the region, including 405 million DKK specifically for citizens in South and West Zealand. Additionally, 75 million DKK is dedicated to a political pool to promote healthcare equality in specialized hospital departments, and 162 million DKK is earmarked to increase the number of general practitioners and regional clinics. The agreement also prioritizes mental health services, particularly for children and youth, and aims to improve treatments for dementia and cancer.
