Bornholm to implement Rejsekort as transport integration issues persist

Bornholm is set to become the final location in Denmark to implement the Rejsekort electronic ticketing system, including the modern app and Basic Card versions. This transition is supported by 3 million DKK from the state's rural area pool and aims to simplify travel for commuters, youth, and tourists.

However, challenges remain regarding integrated transport. Destination Bornholm has noted that combined ferry-train tickets are often sold out even when capacity exists on both the ferry and the train. This issue stems from current ferry contracts lacking requirements for formal ticketing cooperation between Bornholmslinjen and DSB.

To improve connectivity, Destination Bornholm is advocating for future ferry tenders to mandate better cooperation between ferry operators and other collective transport providers. There are also discussions regarding potential collaboration with Øresundsbroen and BAT to create more seamless travel to and from the island.
