Bornholm tourism and transport updates regarding climate footprint and pricing
A new methodology developed by the Center for Regional and Tourism Research (CRT) on behalf of VisitDenmark now allows for the inclusion of ferry and flight travel when calculating the total climate footprint of tourism on Bornholm. This method accounts for travel distance, emissions per passenger kilometer, and the number of travelers, while distinguishing between different types of ferry transport, such as vehicles versus foot passengers.
In separate regional developments, BAT has calculated that a uniform bus ticket price of 39 DKK in 2027 could meet necessary revenue targets for Bornholm, provided passenger numbers remain consistent with 2025 levels. This flat rate would make long-distance trips cheaper while increasing costs for shorter journeys.
In the transport sector, FynBus has concluded a tender round where hourly rates have decreased to 260 DKK. Drivers have expressed concerns regarding market dominance by large companies and the pressure to accept lower rates due to automated booking systems that prioritize the lowest bidders.
