Bornholm volunteers restore Byåen watercourse for sea trout
A restoration project in Byåen, Rønne, has begun after several years of waiting. The initiative, led by Vandpleje Bornholm, involves using gravel, large stones, and volunteer labor to improve 300 meters of the watercourse to create better habitats for sea trout.
Chad Boda, a lecturer in environmental science at Malmö University, is monitoring the project to study how volunteer associations can facilitate nature restoration through community engagement and physical labor. Boda noted that even small watercourses can support significant biodiversity if managed correctly through political action and local effort.
