Bornholmslinjen records high July passenger numbers amid ferry delays
Bornholmslinjen reported its second-best month ever in July, with passenger numbers reaching 373,043, a 4.4 percent increase compared to the previous year. Vehicle transport also saw growth, with 99,811 cars carried on ferry decks, up 5.7 percent from last year.
Despite the record-breaking passenger volume, the ferry operator faced significant operational challenges. Frequent delays throughout the month resulted in a fine of more than 1.3 million Danish kroner payable to the state. The company noted that delays sometimes exceeded 90 minutes.
Molslinjen's commercial director, Lucas Kragh, attributed the disruptions to factors including the reconstruction of Rønne Port and speed restrictions in Ystad. The company plans to conduct a deep analysis of the delays to improve operations for the next high season.
