Borno Commissioner Saina Buba apologizes for controversial remarks

Saina Buba, the Borno State Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation, Youth and Sports Development, has formally retracted controversial remarks made during an empowerment programme in Maiduguri. The comments, made during an event organized by the City Boy Movement, included threats such as, “Whoever dares to show us a finger again, we will break his finger,” and suggestions that those who do not follow the government would be “flogged.”

Addressing journalists in Maiduguri, Buba apologized to the public and opposition supporters, stating that his remarks were not intended to violate the constitutional rights of citizens regarding freedom of choice and association. He clarified that the comments were not meant to be taken literally and emphasized that his statements do not represent the position or ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the administration of Governor Babagana Zulum.
