Borno State security forces foil Boko Haram ambush and receive surrenders
Security forces in Borno State, Nigeria, have reported significant developments in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Troops from Operation Hadin Kai recently foiled an ambush by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in the Biu Local Government Area. During the engagement along the Buni Gari-Buratai axis, military personnel dismantled several makeshift camps used for staging and hiding. The operation resulted in the recovery of a motorcycle, bicycles, ammunition, and rocket-propelled grenade bombs. No military casualties were reported, though some vehicles sustained damage.
In a separate development in the Damboa Local Government Area, two brothers, 27-year-old Mustapha Tijani and 18-year-old Malayi Tijani, surrendered to the 25 Brigade of Operation Hadin Kai. The surrender followed cordon-and-search operations at an internally displaced persons camp. Preliminary investigations indicate the brothers are related to a third sibling who had previously renounced terrorism. The two men are currently in military custody for further investigation.
