Bornova Municipality conducts first honey harvest and expands beekeeping support
Bornova Municipality has conducted its first honey harvest of the year at its apiary in Kayadibi. Mayor Ömer Eşki participated in the event, where natural honey was harvested from more than 30 beehives. The produced honey is distributed through Kent Market shelves.
As part of a broader initiative to support agricultural production and social justice, the municipality provides extensive training and equipment to new beekeepers. Over the last decade, approximately 1,000 citizens have received beekeeping education through municipal courses. Most recently, 80 trainees completed a 56-hour theoretical and practical program and were provided with free essential equipment, including Langstroth-type hives, pollen traps, and protective gear.
