Bornova Municipality expands urban agriculture to 50,000 square meters

Bornova Municipality has expanded its urban agriculture initiative to nine community gardens, covering a total of 50,000 square meters. Following the summer harvest, 1,160 female producers have begun planting winter vegetable seedlings in various locations, including the Pınarbaşı and Altındağ community gardens and the Yakaköy solidarity field.

Mayor Ömer Eşki participated in the planting events, emphasizing the importance of production for social empowerment. The municipality provides participants with free plots, soil, water, and seedlings. The program aims to support women's household economies, foster social solidarity, and transform idle urban areas into productive green spaces.
