Bornova Municipality hosts European Mobility Week events
Bornova Municipality organized a series of 24 different events in İzmir to celebrate European Mobility Week from September 16 to 22. The activities focused on environmental awareness, sports, and social cohesion.
Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that the goal was to build bridges between generations while promoting a cleaner, more accessible, and sustainable city. The program included sports tournaments, environmental workshops, nature explorations, and intergenerational digital and physical activities. Specific events included a harvest festival at the Yakaköy Solidarity Garden and a compost workshop at Büyükpark to teach sustainable agriculture and waste conversion.
To address climate change, the municipality also conducted activities to raise awareness about carbon footprints and waste separation, particularly targeting children to instill environmental consciousness.
