Boršov nad Vltavou delays decision on Amazon distribution center

The municipal council of Boršov nad Vltavou has postponed a decision regarding a major industrial investment proposed by developers Accolade and Garbe for an Amazon distribution center. The decision on a planning agreement has been deferred until September 17.

The developers propose modifying a long-standing industrial zone plan. Instead of the original project consisting of four separate halls, they suggest constructing a single large warehouse with approximately half the total built-up area and increased greenery. In exchange for the municipality's cooperation, the developers have offered a planning agreement that includes contributions such as the construction of a sidewalk connecting the village to the future site.

The proposal faces local opposition. Residents have raised concerns regarding increased heavy traffic, citing estimates of up to 277 trucks per day, and the potential impact of a large workforce—potentially reaching 800 workers per shift—on local infrastructure and social stability. Some residents also expressed fears regarding the influx of agency workers and potential increases in crime.

Currently, three options remain under consideration: the original four-hall project, a single distribution center integrated via a planning agreement with the municipality, or a single center built without utilizing municipal land, which would bypass the need for local consent but deprive the village of negotiated benefits.
