Borovje residents protest planned residential construction in Zagreb
Residents of the Borovje neighborhood in Zagreb, organized under the Borovje Citizens' Initiative, are protesting a plan to construct 11 residential buildings on a site they claim is one of the area's last remaining green spaces.
During an event marking the opening of a new kindergarten, representatives met with Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević to express concerns that the project continues poor urban planning practices from previous administrations. The group argues the land was originally intended to be a forest park and that the neighborhood's infrastructure is already overstrained by existing density. They have submitted approximately one thousand objections to the project, calling for the preservation of the area to maintain climate resilience and local greenery.
