Borrin Foundation announces Women Leaders in Law Fellowship recipients

The Michael and Suzanne Borrin Foundation has announced the recipients of its Women Leaders in Law Fellowships. The program supports women with over ten years of legal experience in leadership development, research, or initiatives to enhance their professional impact.

Deborah Manning has been awarded a $50,000 fellowship. A barrister at Landmark Chambers and Senior Lecturer at AUT Law School, Manning will develop a transdisciplinary framework for professional judgment and practice for New Zealand lawyers. Her project integrates law, psychology, philosophy, professional supervision, and AI ethics to support ethical decision-making and sustainable practice.

Susan Rowe has received a $23,916 fellowship to pursue a PhD in Psychology at the University of Canterbury. Her research focuses on evidence-based approaches to preventing mental health risks in legal workplaces. Rowe aims to create New Zealand’s first psychosocial risk management tool for legal employers to address organizational and cultural barriers to wellbeing.
