Borriol announces fifth International Broken Olives Competition
The Ajuntament de Borriol has announced the fifth edition of the International Broken Olives Competition (Concurs Internacional d’Olives Trencades), to be held as part of the VII Borriol Exhibition on October 3 and 4, 2026. The event aims to preserve and promote the local gastronomic tradition of broken olives as part of Borriol’s food heritage.
The competition is open to non-professionals, local associations, and collectives. Participants must submit a single homemade preparation consisting of broken olives, salt, water, and flavoring. Entries must be submitted in official glass jars provided by the municipality between September 15 and September 24, 2026.
A jury composed of three food industry professionals and three local residents will evaluate the entries based on taste, texture, visual appearance, and the use of local or organic ingredients. The tasting by the jury is scheduled for September 25, 2026, at the Els Llavadors Sociocultural Space.
