Borsa Istanbul sees mixed market moves amid geopolitical risk

On July 21, 2026 the BIST 100 index opened down about 0.23 % at 14,038.17 points, later rose to 14,070.98 before closing lower the following session. Sector performance showed mining gaining roughly 1.6 % while financial leasing slipped 9 %. Banking and holding indices posted modest gains.

Global markets were influenced by ongoing US‑Israel‑Iran tensions and volatile oil prices, which added uncertainty to investor sentiment. Analysts highlighted support levels around 14,000–13,900 and resistance near 14,200–14,300.

On July 22, BIST 100 opened at 14,010.38 and edged up 0.26 % as local data remained stable. Borsa Istanbul also announced revised free‑float ratios for three companies effective July 22: Kaplamin Ambalaj (29 %), Koza Polyester (22 %) and Tera Finansal Yatırımlar (37 %).

A technical‑analysis piece identified several stocks with strong buy signals across multiple indicators, including CIMSA, Anadolu Efes, Pasifik Eurasia Lojistik, Efor Yatırım and Turkcell. A French report noted a mid‑day drop of 1.81 % to 13,992.64 points amid the same geopolitical backdrop.
